Fungal mycelium forms a mutually beneficial relationship with plant roots. -
Parasitic
Parasites that feed on live plants or decaying tree trunks.
Mushroom Structure Chart
"After the spring rain, wild mushrooms are everywhere" is the common first impression most people have of fungi. Fungi are simple yet unique organisms, entirely made up of mycelium, with no distinction between roots and stems. The part of the mushroom we usually see is called the fruiting body. For most of their life cycle, fungi exist as mycelium in soil or on trees, only forming fruiting bodies and reproducing when faced with environmental threats or stress.
